My First Blog...

I am pleased and excited to announce the creation of a blog dedicated to human capital, executive search, issues, policies and practices for C-suite executives within the retail and retail related industries. I intend to share my insight into current trends, news and lessons I have learned that are relevant to today's marketplace.  I also would like to use this platform to raise awareness and shed light on topics of which Boards of Directors, CEOs, Senior Executives and Hiring Authorities may find of particular interest.

Just a few quick notes before I get started.  I welcome any comments, feedback and suggestions. In fact, the best comments are often blunt and quick ones, which help steer the conversation once a post hits.  While I will not be able to respond to every comment, just know that they will be seen and heard and appreciated not only by me, but also my network of contacts, friends and colleagues.

Shining Retail's Spotlight on Helping U.S. Veterans

My first posting, which I am working on at the moment is centered on the retail and retail related industry's efforts to give back to our returning war heroes who we owe such a huge debt of gratitude. Returning U.S. Veterans deservedly need our help with getting relaunched into everyday life. Therefore, I believe it is our obligation to support programs aimed at helping to guide and mentor U.S. veterans as they reattempt to enter the workforce.

Career Mentoring for U.S. Veterans

I am in the process of exploring current programs for veterans and plan on personally launching an initiative to create or join forces with an existing program that will actually provide on-going mentoring and direction for veterans seeking jobs and/or career direction. While my focus is in the retail and fashion related industries, these programs are vital across every industry.

If you have any thoughts or ideas on this topic, please do share.

Bob,

It was a pleasure to speak with you today and as well to hear and read that your efforts are in the best interests of our returning US Veterans. We applaud people as yourself that can and do utilize the valuable resources at your disposal to assist our veteran men and women.

As I mentioned, HireVeterans.com is a leading Military job board dedicated to the employment of our Military Veterans. Our service is always free of charge to Veterans seeking employment with industry leaders from across the spectrum posting their careers and seeking to fill them with our talented Military heroes.

As well our job posting rates for employers to post their careers is the lowest in the industry.

I look forward to working with you. Anything we can do to assist you in your efforts, do hesitate to ask.

Love your blog, Bob--am in "violent agreement" that CHRO is the perfect nexis for productivity focus. As the long-time Chief People Officer at Pepsi I found myself spending a good portion of my time on productivity issues. And the organization was receptive to and welcoming of that role.
